About

Dimitris Soukos

Born and raised in Athens, Greece, Dimitris Soukos is a DJ, filmmaker, and producer whose work bridges underground electronic music and visual storytelling. Inspired by Detroit techno pioneers such as Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, DJ Bone, DJ Rolando, Moodymann, and Cari Lekebusch, he began DJing at local parties in the UK at the age of 18, eventually developing a deep connection to the soulful, funk-driven energy of Detroit techno.

After relocating to New York City in 2006 to study at the New York Film Academy, Dimitris quickly immersed himself in both the music and film scenes. As a DJ he performed at notable NYC venues including Sin Sin, The Porch, and La Zarza, and in 2010 had the honor of opening for Derrick May at the legendary Sullivan Room. During this period he also directed and produced the music video for Cari Lekebusch's "Steady Motion" (H-Productions), which led to further collaborations with artists seeking his distinctive visual style.

Alongside his music career, Dimitris worked extensively in film and post-production. He served as Assistant Producer at the renowned Post Factory in New York and contributed to major productions including The Other Guys, The Resident (Hammer Films, starring Hilary Swank), and Violet & Daisy starring James Gandolfini and directed by Academy Award winner Geoffrey Fletcher. After a brief return to Athens, he also worked as an Associate Producer at Ogilvy & Mather, producing award-winning commercials and radio campaigns.

Recognizing a lack of a true underground electronic scene in Athens, Dimitris founded the "Mystik" event series, bringing international artists such as Connie Yin, Petri Laine, Trish Van Eynde, DJ Klaina, and DJ Bone to Greece for special appearances.

Since returning to Athens in 2012, Dimitris has focused on directing his own projects. He has written, directed, and produced four short films and two documentaries, with several works screened at international festivals, and is currently developing an AI-driven feature film. Whether through music, film, or immersive live experiences, Dimitris continues to push creative boundaries while championing both underground electronic music and independent cinema.
